Consultations

Start with a conversation

Thirteen ways to take something in hand. Doctor-led consultations by video, from wherever you are, with the same doctor throughout. Opening soon, subject to CQC registration. Treatment is prescribed only where it is clinically right for you.

Fees are the same for every consultation — how fees work.

Find your consultation

Six quick steps, about a minute

Answer a few questions and we will point you to the consultation that fits — or tell you honestly if this is not the right service for you. Nothing is stored, and this is not a medical assessment.

This points you to a consultation. It does not diagnose anything, and no treatment is decided here — that happens with Dr Qurbain, in the consultation, and only where it is clinically right for you.

Weight management

Medical weight loss consultation

A private, doctor-led assessment of your health, your history and what you want to achieve. Dr Qurbain explains the options, including lifestyle support, and agrees a plan with you.

Read about this service →Join the waiting list

What the consultation covers

  • Your health history and current weight reviewed in advance
  • A conversation about goals and what has or has not worked before
  • Advice on next steps, with treatment only where clinically appropriate

After your consultation

Log your weight, your photos and how you are getting on in your secure Metovia patient portal. Dr Qurbain reviews your progress over time. Launching with the service.

Hair loss

Hair loss consultation

Hair loss has many possible causes. A consultation looks at your pattern of hair loss, your history and general health, and sets out the options open to you.

What the consultation covers

  • Your history and pattern of hair loss reviewed in advance
  • A discussion of what may be behind it
  • Options explained, with treatment only where clinically appropriate

After your consultation

Follow-up reviews with your doctor, and a secure way to ask about your treatment as you go. Launching with the service.

Acne

Acne consultation

A clear look at what may be driving your acne, how it is affecting you, and the treatment options for you.

Read about this service →Join the waiting list

What the consultation covers

  • Your skin and health history reviewed in advance
  • A discussion of what may be driving it and what you have already tried
  • Options explained, with treatment only where clinically appropriate

After your consultation

Log how you are getting on, including photos, in your secure Metovia patient portal. Dr Qurbain reviews your progress over time. Launching with the service.

Diet & nutrition

Diet, nutrition and exercise advice

Evidence-based advice on eating and activity, on its own or alongside weight-management treatment. This is an advisory service — nothing is prescribed for diet or activity.

Read about this service →Join the waiting list

What the consultation covers

  • Measured height and weight, not self-reported
  • Eating pattern, activity, sleep and alcohol reviewed
  • Eating disorder screening at every consultation
  • Realistic, sustainable goals — crash dieting is not supported

After your consultation

Written advice after every consultation so you have a record. Review typically at 4 to 12 weeks.

HRT

HRT and hormonal health consultation

Assessment of perimenopausal and menopausal symptoms, with treatment where it suits you. Transdermal oestrogen is offered first because it carries a lower clot and stroke risk than tablets.

Read about this service →Join the waiting list

What the consultation covers

  • Symptoms scored and your history reviewed in advance
  • Blood pressure and BMI, and every contraindication checked
  • Menopause-specific CBT discussed as an option alongside or instead of HRT
  • Licensed body-identical products only — no compounded bioidentical HRT

After your consultation

Review at three months, six months, then annually. Breast and cervical screening remain with the NHS programmes.

Men’s health

Men’s health and testosterone consultation

Testosterone replacement where it is genuinely indicated, after proper assessment. A proper assessment, not a prescription on request — two morning blood tests and symptoms are needed before anything is prescribed.

Read about this service →Join the waiting list

What the consultation covers

  • Two morning testosterone measurements, with symptoms, before treatment
  • PSA and haematocrit checked before starting and at every review
  • Fertility discussed first — TRT suppresses sperm production
  • Gel only; injections need in-person administration and are referred

After your consultation

Blood tests at 3, 6 and 12 months then annually. Treatment stops if there is no benefit after six months.

Erectile dysfunction

Erectile dysfunction consultation

Treatment with a PDE5 inhibitor where appropriate, alongside the cardiovascular assessment this symptom warrants — erectile dysfunction is often the first sign of circulatory disease.

Read about this service →Join the waiting list

What the consultation covers

  • Cardiovascular risk assessed before any prescription
  • Nitrates, nicorandil and poppers asked about specifically — these are an absolute bar
  • Modifiable risk factors addressed, not just the symptom
  • Psychosexual referral offered where that is likely to help

After your consultation

Review at four weeks, three months, then six-monthly. Referral to urology if two agents at full dose do not help.

Contraception

Contraception consultation

Pills, patches, the vaginal ring and emergency contraception, prescribed after a video consultation. Anything needing a procedure is assessed and referred.

Read about this service →Join the waiting list

What the consultation covers

  • Eligibility checked against current UK medical eligibility criteria
  • A home blood pressure reading is required for the combined pill
  • Missed pill, patch and ring rules given in writing
  • Coils, implants and the injection are referred, not fitted here

After your consultation

Three months initially, then up to twelve after a satisfactory review. No hormonal method protects against STI.

Sexual health

STI testing and treatment

Postal self-sampling kits from an accredited laboratory, with treatment of uncomplicated chlamydia where appropriate. For adults without symptoms.

Read about this service →Join the waiting list

What the consultation covers

  • Sampling sites matched to your history — a genital-only test is not enough for everyone
  • Window periods explained before you test, and in writing
  • All results given to you, positive or negative
  • Symptoms, pregnancy, or anything complex is referred rather than treated remotely

After your consultation

A negative test taken too early is not reassurance. If you test inside the window you are told when to repeat, with the date.

Longevity

Longevity and preventive health assessment

Cardiovascular, type 2 diabetes and age-related risk assessed with validated tools and objective measurement. This service does not prescribe — anything needing medication goes to your GP.

Read about this service →Join the waiting list

What the consultation covers

  • Validated risk assessment with objective measurements
  • Blood tests where they form part of the assessment, explained to you
  • A balanced discussion of PSA testing and its real limitations
  • Referral to your GP where a result warrants treatment

After your consultation

A point-in-time assessment, repeated at twelve months or sooner if your risk factors change. It does not replace NHS screening.

Travel health

Travel health and malaria prevention

Pre-travel risk assessment, antimalarial prescribing and written advice. We advise on which vaccines you need but cannot administer them — those are arranged elsewhere.

Read about this service →Join the waiting list

What the consultation covers

  • Risk assessment against current national country guidance
  • Malaria tablets chosen for your specific destinations
  • Written advice pack with exact start and stop dates
  • Vaccine requirements identified, with deadlines, and referred

After your consultation

Any fever during travel or up to a year afterwards needs urgent assessment — say where you have been.

Smoking cessation

Smoking cessation consultation

Behavioural support, a set quit date and medication where appropriate, with referral to your local NHS stop smoking service — which offers more support than any remote service can.

Read about this service →Join the waiting list

What the consultation covers

  • A quit date agreed, with written relapse-prevention strategies
  • Combination nicotine replacement, plus prescription medication where it is suitable
  • Mood asked about and recorded at every single review
  • Referral to your local NHS service, which is free

After your consultation

Review 1 to 2 weeks after your quit date, at four weeks, and at twelve weeks.

Sleep & anxiety

Sleep and anxiety consultation

The most restricted service Metovia offers. Talking treatment comes first, and no sleeping tablet, benzodiazepine or other dependence-forming medicine is prescribed at all.

Read about this service →Join the waiting list

What the consultation covers

  • Digital CBT for insomnia, or NHS Talking Therapies which you can self-refer to
  • Formal scoring before any medication is considered
  • Medication only where clear clinical criteria are met
  • Many situations are referred to your GP rather than treated here

After your consultation

Risk is reassessed and scores repeated at every review. If you miss a review we contact you and notify your GP.

The guidelines we work toEvery consultation follows published national guidance. This is the full list, by service.Read

Hair loss

Prescribing follows the British Association of Hair Restoration Surgery position statement on prescribing for male pattern hair loss (v3, January 2025), current MHRA drug safety guidance (patient alert card 2024, warnings strengthened May 2026), and the current product licences.

Worth knowing: You may see clinics cite a British Association of Dermatologists guideline on pattern hair loss. There is no current BAD clinical guideline on it — BAD publishes a patient information leaflet, which is a different thing. We would rather name our sources accurately than impressively.

Weight loss

Eligibility, response assessment and the 5%-at-six-months stopping rule follow NICE TA875 (published 8 March 2023, last updated 4 September 2023) and NICE TA1026 (published 23 December 2024, last updated 1 September 2025). Prescribing follows GMC guidance on prescribing and managing medicines (last updated 13 December 2024; remote prescribing is paragraph 60) and the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Medicine and RCP standards for prescribing in private practice.

Acne & skin

Treatment sequence, the 12-week course structure and the antibiotic stewardship limits follow NICE NG198 (acne vulgaris: management, published 25 June 2021, last updated 3 August 2026) and NICE NG15 (antimicrobial stewardship), together with the current product licences.

Diet & nutrition

Advice follows NICE NG246 (overweight and obesity management, published 14 January 2025, last updated 8 January 2026), the UK Chief Medical Officers’ Physical Activity Guidelines (2019, refreshed 2026) and NICE NG69 (eating disorders).

Worth knowing: You may see older guidance cited elsewhere as CG189 or NG7. Both are superseded by NG246 and should not be relied on. We would rather name our sources accurately than impressively.

HRT & menopause

Care follows NICE NG23 (menopause: identification and management, originally published 12 November 2015, substantively updated November 2024, last updated 15 April 2026), British Menopause Society consensus statements including its guidance on unscheduled bleeding on HRT, current MHRA advice, and the RCOG paper on premature ovarian insufficiency.

Men’s health

Diagnostic thresholds, the two-sample rule, the morning sampling window, the six-month minimum trial and the monitoring schedule follow the BSSM 2023 guideline on adult testosterone deficiency and the EAU Sexual and Reproductive Health guidelines (2026 edition, male hypogonadism chapter). Safety advice on skin transfer follows the current MHRA Drug Safety Update. NICE CKS on testosterone deficiency in men is the relevant NICE source.

Worth knowing: There is no NICE guideline or diagnostics guidance on testosterone deficiency. Where you see one cited by number, it is worth checking what that number actually refers to.

Erectile dysfunction

Assessment and treatment follow the BSSM guidelines on the management of erectile dysfunction (2018, confirmed current), the EAU Sexual and Reproductive Health guidelines (March 2026 limited update), NICE CKS on erectile dysfunction, and the current product licences.

Worth knowing: Where the product licences differ on sudden ischaemic optic neuropathy — an absolute contraindication on one, a warning on another — this service treats it as an absolute exclusion for either. That is the more conservative reading and we have not loosened it.

Contraception

Eligibility assessment follows the UK Medical Eligibility Criteria (UKMEC) 2025, published December 2025, and the College of Sexual and Reproductive Healthcare clinical guidelines on combined hormonal contraception, the progestogen-only pill (amended April 2026) and emergency contraception (amended April 2026), together with NICE CKS on contraception.

Worth knowing: The Faculty of Sexual and Reproductive Healthcare (FSRH) became the College of Sexual and Reproductive Healthcare (CoSRH) on 20 August 2025. Older documents still carry the FSRH name, and UKMEC 2025 replaced the 2016 third edition.

Sexual health

Testing standards, window periods and treatment follow current BASHH guidelines — chlamydia (2026), gonorrhoea (2025), syphilis (2024) and non-gonococcal urethritis (2026) — the BHIVA/BASHH/BIA adult HIV testing guidelines, the national HIV partner notification standards, and UKHSA guidance on surveillance and notification.

Longevity & prevention

Risk assessment follows NICE NG238 (cardiovascular disease: risk assessment and reduction, published 14 December 2023), which specifies the risk tool used. The diabetes threshold follows the WHO diagnostic criteria as implemented in UK practice. The prostate pathway follows the UK National Screening Committee position confirmed in March 2026. The structure is modelled on the NHS Health Check programme.

Worth knowing: It is modelled on the NHS Health Check rather than identical to it — that programme covers ages 40 to 74, and this service sees adults from 18. NG238 replaced the older CG181, which should no longer be cited.

Travel health

Assessment follows the NaTHNaC / TravelHealthPro country pages, checked at each consultation, and the UK Malaria Expert Advisory Group malaria prevention guidelines for travellers from the UK 2026 (published 17 June 2026). Also used: Immunisation against infectious disease (the Green Book), WHO International Travel and Health, NICE CKS on malaria prophylaxis, and the current product licences.

Worth knowing: The former Advisory Committee on Malaria Prevention (ACMP) no longer exists, and the 2026 guidance is published as HTML sections rather than the old single annual PDF — so any saved PDF link you find elsewhere will be out of date.

Stopping smoking

Treatment follows NICE NG209 (tobacco: preventing uptake, promoting quitting and treating dependence, published 30 November 2021, last updated 4 February 2025) and the NCSCT standard treatment programme. The red-flag referral thresholds follow NICE NG12 (suspected cancer: recognition and referral) recommendations 1.1.2, 1.1.5 and 1.8.1, together with the current product licences.

Sleep & anxiety

Care follows NICE CG113 (generalised anxiety disorder and panic disorder in adults), NICE CKS on insomnia and NICE TA922 (October 2023), which positions CBT for insomnia ahead of drug treatment, NICE NG225 on self-harm, and the British Association for Psychopharmacology consensus statement on insomnia, parasomnias and circadian rhythm disorders.

Worth knowing: There is no NICE full guideline on insomnia. NICE CG123 was withdrawn in May 2024 and is not cited, and NG222 is the guideline on depression rather than insomnia — it was never the right reference, wherever you see it quoted.

Guidance is reviewed when it changes, and the standard operating procedures behind each service are held for inspection. Nothing is prescribed outside them.

How fees work

The same for every consultation

  1. Initial consultation: fee confirmed when we open.
  2. Follow-up review: only if you or your doctor decide you need one. Fee confirmed when we open.
  3. Medicine is paid to the dispensing pharmacy at their price; we take no share of it.

Joining the waiting list is free. Your initial consultation is paid when you book, before the consultation, and is charged whether or not treatment is prescribed. If medicine is prescribed, it is bought separately from the dispensing pharmacy and its cost is confirmed with you before you pay for each supply.
