Overview

The right contraception for your body and lifestyle

Contraception is not one-size-fits-all. The right method depends on your medical history, lifestyle, fertility intentions, and how you experience hormonal effects. A proper contraception consultation reviews all these factors and tailors the recommendation to you.

We provide prescriptions for all licensed contraceptive methods and can manage ongoing prescriptions, method switches and troubleshooting side effects.

📋 Hormonal methods

  • Combined oral contraceptive pill (COCP)
  • Progestogen-only pill (POP / mini-pill)
  • Contraceptive patch (Evra)
  • Vaginal ring (NuvaRing)
  • Contraceptive injection (Depo-Provera)
  • Implant (Nexplanon) — referral for fitting

📋 Non-hormonal & LARC

  • Copper IUD — referral for fitting
  • Levonorgestrel IUS (Mirena, Kyleena) — referral
  • Barrier methods advice
  • Emergency contraception (levonorgestrel, ulipristal)
  • Natural fertility awareness methods
  • Perimenopause contraception review

📚 Clinical guidelines

All contraception advice follows FSRH (Faculty of Sexual and Reproductive Healthcare) UK Medical Eligibility Criteria (UKMEC), NICE PH51 (long-acting reversible contraception), and current FSRH Clinical Guidelines. VTE and cardiovascular risk assessment is performed for all hormonal method discussions.
